2 and 3-Inch Body Lift Airbox Modification
|
If you install a 2 or 3-inch body lift you will most likely have to remove the airbox resonator and plug the hole where it attached. We used a 2-inch test plug found in the plumbing section of the local hardware store ($2-$3). If you don’t remove the resonator you will probably need 3 friends to help you latch down the airbox every time you check or replace your air filter. Using a lot of muscle you can get the airbox latched with the resonator attached but it is still likely to bend and deform the intake tube, which can’t be good for your gas mileage. The resonator supposedly quiets down the intake but we haven’t noticed any difference in sound since removing it. |

Loosen the hose clamp that attaches the resonator to the intake tube. Remove the two bolts/screws that secure the resonator to the fender. You may also find some zip-ties holding it in place. |

Insert the test plug into the hole on the intake tube and tighten. (You may have to lube the test plug with WD-40 to get it into the hole) Tighten the hose clamp for a little extra security. |
