As you all know one of the main objectives of NFWA is to promote conservation while off roading. As anyone involved with the off road community knows, there are trails being shut down everyday in the United States due to poor judgment by OHV drivers or people who hate what we all have such a passion for. Arkansas currently has many opportunities to do some amazing four wheeling, however it is right on the brink of being taken away. While the USFS is open to the idea of expanding their OHV trails, there are many who dont want to see this happen. There is a new organization here in Arkansas that is going to be teaming up with the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council to help insure that OHV trails are preserved and expanded. That group is the Arkansas OHV Conservation Association. They are actually having the incorporation meeting today (Dec. 1st) and plan to start holding meeting regularly. It is nice to see that there are still people who care about conservation AND off roading and believe the two can go hand in hand here in Arkansas. I have just made contact with on of their members and would love to get actively involved with them since they are needing support from groups in the OHV family. I encourage everyone who wants to keep off roading alive so that generations to come can enjoy this great sport we all know and love to go out and find an organization to support and help make this possible. I know that wilburburns is the president of trail keepers which is another great conservation organization. I look forward to working with him and the AOCA, and as long as the other members are OK with it make NFWA "sponsors" of both and help as much as we can.
Here is where I found out about AOCA:
