I'm not planning on hitting anything, but the reality is that there are some very crazy drivers out there.  I would rather know that I will be driving my truck home from a lower speed crash that having it towed home.  Oh, and maybe pushing stalled cars out of the way.

Thanks, I epoxied my bumper back together up front, but am looking at building a strong pushbar for the front.  I will eventually change out the back bumper, but not right now, and I don't want to change the look of the front.  I am looking at doing something kinda like this but am unsure where to mount it at for the strongest mount.

Brainiax fabricated a bar virtually identical to that one for his first generation Frontier.  He probably has some pictures scattered around in some forum threeds or the image gallary.  His was not setup for structual strength to the level of being strong enough for bumping into things.  Instead, it is very beefy for duty as a light mounting point (has 4 lights on it).

As far as fabrication, it is bolted as I recall to the steel bumper behind the plastic fascia.  Could have been the frame horns but don't think so.  He did a mock up out of card board to determine the shape and dimensions of the behind the fascia pieces and the light mounting bar on the outside.  After he had that set up then cut the pieces out of steel using the cardboard templates and welded it all together.  With fabrication complete, you can use your choice of powder coat, rattle can paint or bed liner.

Back to the rear rack.  I found one for a 94 Pathy during the Pick and Pull half off sale.  I beefed up my right rear fender with steel, both inside and out (pics coming soon), remounted the latch and installed the hardware on the tailgate.  I need to run one more brace from the bed rail to the bed floor and to inner fender just to be on the safe side.  Even with my massive 31's on there  icon_smile_ohcrap I can still see out of the back very well.  I am pleased with the outcome.  Of course the body work will look a lot better when I get the truck repainted, as I will do a more thorough job with the bondo and sand paper.  Anyway, thanks to all for the ideas and motivation.  Now onto the bumpers.  As I said, pics coming very soon.
