NM trip
« on: June 23, 2011, 05:13:55 AM »

cross posted from a couple other forums....

During my trip to NM I'm planning on making a venture out west of Albuquerque.

I'll be leaving Alb July 8. From there I'm headed up San Ysidro way. I may visit Soda Dam but right now plan on heading out into the desert, up Gas Pipe Road, visit San Luis, visit some ruins known as Guadalupe (there's a ghost town out there on private property but will instead be visiting some ruins that may date back to around 950AD). After visiting there it'll be up to either Pueblo Pintada or on to Chaco and spend the night there.

After that I'll be heading down a 4wd road to visit a couple more pueblos. After that I'm heading towards Grants, NM to visit two more pueblos, on to the La Ventana arch, Pie Town, Zuni Salt Lake then camping by Datil. Next day I hope to visit the VLA to be a geek and see if I can hear a message from E.T.! lol

Right now I'm planning on doing this solo but if anyone is interested in joining me post up here or PM me.

If I had some vacation time, I would fly out in a heart beat and ride shotgun.  Maybe next year if you go again.

Sounds a very interesting trip even if i dont understand half the lingo  Big Smile
We would call you an adventurer, something most will give their right hand to do but few get the chance.
We have some of them here in SA and one of them is a Kingsly Holgate

Hope you do a good documentary with some great pictures.
My son has a book signed personally by him.

Should be a nice trip, but be wary of the current fire restrictions and current fires cause its been a real bad season this year. If I had the time and money I'd make the 5 hour trip from my house to meet you there! Be sure to let us know how it goes!

Well it looks like part of the trip may be scrapped.  The dry conditions are getting worse as are the fires.  They're popping up all over the place.  May just head into the northern Gila area and run around.

Blue where are you?
